Mizzou ADVANCE seeks to develop a more diverse workforce through the advancement of women faculty in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) divisions and departments. Mizzou ADVANCE implementation began on January 1, 2007 and will continue through December 31, 2009.

MIZZOU ADVANCE is a major initiative designed to support the advancement, promotion, and retention of tenured women in STEM fields. The program is funded by:

The three-year grant aims to:

  • Educate faculty and administrators on gender equity issues
  • Develop a mentoring system for tenured STEM faculty
  • Identify barriers to women's advancement
  • Collect institutional data on climate, support, and resources for women's advancement

Mizzou ADVANCE is comprised of four programs:

Mizzou ADVANCE is supported and managed by an interdisciplinary team of faculty and administrators including a Steering Board, a STRIDE Committee, and Supporting Offices. In addition, we are leveraging the expertise of our partners. Members of the MU community are encouraged to get involved in Mizzou ADVANCE.
